Collaborating Researcher
Alli Gokeler describes himself as a clinician-researcher by working as a sports physio therapist in a clinical setting and post-doctoral researcher at the University of Paderborn. He is affiliated with the Department of Exercise Science and Neuroscience. Alli is involved in teaching in Bachelor and Master programs and supervision of research projects.
The main focus of his research is centered around Injury prevention, return to play after injuries and optimisation of sports performance. Current topics of his research are: 1) assess the possible relationship between cognitive functions and sports injury mechanisms; 2) determine interventions that induce neuroplastic changes of the brain after sports injuries; 3) Neural underpinnings of cognitive functions in sport specific environments; 4) applying principles of motor learning to sports injury prevention programs.
In his free time he likes to ride his mountain bike (in the Dutch mountains).
